Winters Coming

First Snow
snow covered landscape

On the morning of November 8, the first snow of 2012 covered everything with enough to give us a taste of what's to come. We wondered what the ducks thought of their first snow at the water's edge. Don't they ever get cold?

In spite of the cold weather, the 6 hens are still laying 1-3 eggs each day. We have been letting the hens have the run of the barn during the day, so the eggs are showing up in all kinds of places. The Araucana hens are known for the pastel colors of the eggs, so it truly feels like an Easter  Egg hunt.
